What is Nucky’s?

Nucky’s Speakeasy, named after the famous Atlantic City, NJ political boss and racketeer Enoch “Nucky” Johnson, is located in the heart of downtown Anoka beneath Club 300 Supper Club Restaurant, in the Old Post Office. This beautiful structure was built in 1916 and is on the MN Historical Registry.

The Speakeasy has its own private entry in the back where there is plenty of parking in the public lot.  Look for the red door and descend the outside stairway along the building.  Once through the red door, “ring” for the Postmaster and let him know what you want. Wink Wink.

What’s inside?

After you have placed your post office order, inside you are sure to be taken back to the by-gone era of Prohibition days.  History and artwork on the walls depict the bootleggers and events of 1920-1933.  Hundred year old red brick walls create the feel of the era.

You can cozy up to our beautiful illuminated bar, enjoy a table for 2 or 4, or join your friends in “Nucky’s Nook”.   Craft cocktails, beer and Prohibition-era drinks are on the menu.  In keeping with the spirit of Prohibition, we will also be offering a wide array of alcohol-free concoctions.

Don’t forget to dress up in 1920’s flair to add to the ambience of the historical time.  Otherwise, smart-casual (look it up) is appropriate for Nucky’s.
